At this time all consultations take place over a 15-30 min Zoom call with one of our Midwives. Or a face to face apportionment at our clinic. Kids are welcome, we have toys for them to play with.
We will cover: who we are, what is out of hospital birth, student midwives involvement, scope of practice for Licensed Midwives in Washington, Licensed Birth Center, Home births, risks and benefits of out of Hospital births, basic emergency preparation and policies, low risk candidates for birth, and we will answer any questions potential clients may have.
Every pregnancy journey is unique, and having a dedicated team possessing experience and knowledge will serve as a strong foundation in which your experience will be built upon. A midwife is there to provide you with comprehensive care from the beginning, beyond those most profound moments of birth, and into postpartum as you navigate recovery and transition into parenthood.
Though vitals, bloodwork, and prenatal testing options are included in care they are not just clinical appointments; they're opportunities for you to establish a deep relationship with your midwife. Trust and rapport are developed by listening attentively to your concerns, answering your questions, and guiding you through this transformative time. Education, reassurance, and support are readily available so that you may feel confident and empowered in your own body.
From breastfeeding support and newborn care to emotional well-being and physical recovery, home birth midwives are there every step of the way, facilitating a nurturing experience for families.
When you are in active labor, we come to your home. We monitor you and baby throughout your labor and birth. We work to facilitate a smooth experience for you and your baby, while watching for any signs that things may be moving away from 'normal and low risk' to make sure that home birth is still a safe option for your family.
Immediately after the birth, we continue to monitor you and baby's well being for a few hours. This care includes a complete newborn physical exam. We do all the clean up, including emptying the birth tub if you used one. We make sure you and your baby are happy and healthy before we head home.
All births are attended with a trained and experienced assistant or student midwife. SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT.
I am available 24 hours a day for urgent/emergent issues via text or call.
